When your plants are ready to move into the garden, transplanting is a snap! Harden off the whole Bio Dome for a few days (using the dome cover to keep out chills at first, then gradually removing it), then just lift out the styrofoam tray and remove the plants as you need them, pushing them out from the bottom. Just pop the plant and its Bio Sponge into the soil of your garden and water it in. If you only need to plant half of the tray, the others will stay put so you can replace the ones you transplanted with new Bio Sponges, ready to sow the next crop.
The Bio Dome is extremely durable and endlessly reusable. All you have to replace are the Bio Sponges. Whichever size Dome you get, once you have the complete seed-starter kit, you need never buy another complete kit unless you want more trays. They’re conveniently available in the original Bio Dome with 60-cell planting tray, a Jumbo Bio Dome with a 40-cell planting tray, or the Whopper size with an 18-cell planting tray – or go for the big Double Bio Dome and plant an entire garden’s worth in a few simple steps!
We’ve heard from gardeners up north who rely on our Jumbo Bio Dome because they can delay their Tomatoes up to a month without having to transplant the seedlings – there's plenty of room to grow in these bigger Sponges! And the Whopper Bio Dome, which also fits into the original green tray, was designed for rooting cuttings and sowing big seeds.
The Bio Dome systems also work great with heat mats and lights to provide seeds the best conditions for starting off right. Just try it and see — with the Bio Dome your plants grow bigger and better in less space and with less mess than ever! |

"I can't recommend the Bio Dome enough"
I've been using my Bio Domes, and your great seeds, for three years now. My husband David and I are avid gardeners and have a sunroom on the western side of our house which is perfect to use as a greenhouse to start our seedlings. The Bio Dome helps us grow sturdy, healthy seedlings which have a great success rate. I can't recommend the Bio Dome enough to all gardeners.

"By far the best seed starting system I have tried"
I just tried the Bio Dome this year and combined it with a heating mat. Everything I planted germinated and in less time than all the germination estimates on the seed packages! I have finally been able to grow impatiens from seeds that will be big enough and strong enough to plant outside soon. In previous years, I have had very little luck with impatiens and had almost thought not to try them again this year. I also had one of my cats rip plants out of the sponges. I was able to stick the seedlings back in the holes, water them, and have most of the plants survive. It's by far the best seed starting system I have tried, and I have tried a number of them.

"The Bio Domes.... ensured my germinating success"
Just want to tell you about my little experiment...I ordered verbascum and every type of black-eyed susie vine seed available from Park Seed this year, including 2 new 60-cell Bio Domes. Those seeds all germinated and are growing very well within 2 weeks of planting...very few vacant cells in two trays.
At the same time, I planted other seeds in germinating trays I ordered this year from another seed supplier. I two weeks, I am still waiting for any signs of germination! Obviously, the combination of the seeds and the Bio Domes has ensured my germinating success.

"I have tried other methods.... but the Bio Domes are the very best way"
Gardening is a real challenge here in Interior Alaska. I start most of my flower and some of my vegetable seeds in the Bio Domes. I can stack the Bio Domes in the windows to take advantage of the light. I can't safely put plants outside until late May, so my plants are in the domes longer. We have a short growing season here, so it is very important to get strong sturdy plants ready to take off when they go into the gardens. I have tried other methods of seed starting but the Bio Domes are the very best way I have ever come across to get a good, fast, sturdy start for my plants.

"The Bio Dome uses sponges instead of loose dirt and so clean up was easy"
My first batch of seedlings in their Bio Dome this year was accidentally knocked off the kitchen table by someone (son and husband won't fess up). Of course, it landed completely upside down. Several plugs of peppers flew out of their home and bounced all over the kitchen floor. The amazing part of this story is that 80% of the pepper plants survived. The Bio Dome uses sponges instead of loose dirt and so clean up was easy, the roots were not disturbed, and the plants were easy to place back into the Bio Dome.

"What is the answer to my dilemma? Starting seeds in my Bio Dome"
I can't tell you how much fun I'm having with my Double 120-cell Bio Dome! I was fortunate enough to receive one as a Christmas gift (someone must have listened to all those hints I was dropping) and together with my 20 x 20 inch Waterproof Seedling Heat Mat and Heat Mat Thermostat that I bought myself, this cold winter is wonderfully green!
The Bio Dome is so simple to use it almost seems too easy. There's no messy filling of containers; you just pop a Bio Sponge in the cell, drop a seed in and wait for the green. I couldn't believe how quickly my Petunia Tidal Wave Silver seed sprouted -- not only was it quick, I had 100% germination! I'm also growing New Guinea Impatiens Java Jungle; I was worried that they might be tricky, but they love the climate-controlled environment in my Bio Dome and are doing great!
Of course, starting my plants at home means I can choose from the many varieties of seed Park has available, which allows me many more options that I have available as plants from local nurseries. But I have another, even more important reason for staring my plants at home: butterflies and hummingbirds. A big part of the reason I garden is to attract butterflies and hummingbirds to my yard with appealing nectar and host plants. Many pesticides can harm butterflies, caterpillars and birds and I can't be certain that the plants from the nursery are safe. What is the answer to my dilemma? Starting seeds in my Bio Dome -- I know my seedlings and the big, beautiful plants they'll become are pesticide free and safe for any flying friends that happen to drop by.
Thanks for the Bio Dome; it has made seed starting remarkably simple!

"The Bio Dome makes both of my thumbs green!"
I love, love, love the Bio Dome. It is the only seed starting method I use and will ever use!!!!!! Sowing seeds in the Bio Dome is so quick and easy. No more messy soil for me!!!!!!! Plus it is compact and everything is self contained. I sow all my seeds in the Bio Dome. From annuals to perennials to vegetables to houseplants, it does it all!!!!!! I also use the Bio Dome for root cuttings.
Once the seeds have germinated, I keep them in there till it is time for transplanting outdoors. I have found no need to remove them from the Bio Dome before then even though they have grown quite big and flowering. I also sow more then 1 seed in each sponge. Most of the time I'll have 4 or 5 plants growing in one sponge and when it is time to transplant, I just gently tear the sponge apart and have loads of plants!!!!
I never considered myself to have a green thumb, but the Bio Dome makes both of my thumbs green!!!
